The swamp heaves and stretches up into a neck. The neck gives, the surface recoils, and the drop that breaks free rounds into a perfect sphere and catches the light. It stays, bobbing. Bubbles keep bulging the skin of the swamp and sinking back.

Lotus.
First just the swamp, giving off AI twinkles like a stench, wavering up and thinning out. Then stock icons and buttons surface and bob in it, only their tops out of the water: sparkles, image placeholders, typing bubbles, Get started and Book a demo, template cards, a thumbs-up, rockets, lightbulbs. Then a stem pushes up out of it, drips running off the bud. A leaf unrolls beside it. At full height the bud opens, its petals paling from ink to paper, into a line-drawn lotus that sways on its stem. It grows up between the debris.

The same story, finished properly. The slop is already afloat, tilting on the swell and now and then glugging under; it gives off twinkles like a smell. The swamp swells, and a bud breaks through in a coat of muck that stretches up with it, lets go and slides off. Pads unfurl flat on the water, a leaf comes up rolled and opens, and at full height the flower opens ring by ring: a lotus modelled in 3D and drawn like an engraving, the petals' backs hatched and their faces left pale, round a seed head. The slop clears away from it.

A form rises coated in the same muck as the swamp. The coat slides off from the top down in drips, and what's left is clean: a sphere shaded in halftone. The swamp's surface is ragged with scum.
